ZTE wants to prove that they can produce top-of-the-line Android tablet computers other than their ZTE Optik 7″ 3G and ZTE V66 7″ Android 4G Tablet PC models. The upcoming ZTE T98 Tablet Android 4.0 Ice Cream product is a proof of their new objective to play with top brands like Samsung, Motorola, HTC and LG.
Information has leaked revealing the plan of ZTE to launch the 1.5 GHz quad-core Tegra 3-equipped T98 in China this February 2012. So watch out for ZTE T98 Tablet PC’s release any day this month. First unveiled at this year CES 2012’s event, the ZTE T98 got great hands-on reviews by expert tech bloggers. They praised this device’s super-smooth Android 4.0 operating efficiency.
Despite only having a small 7-inch display, the T98 showed sharp HD movie playback so the resolution was taken to be at around 1280x800p like the 8.2-inch and 10.1-inch Motorola Xyboard Android Tablet PC Wi-Fi Only Models.
The capacitive screen proved to be very responsive considering ZTE is only previously known for producing for cheap tablets with less-than-average screen display performance.
This manufacturer has however responded well to criticisms and the new T98 is a major leap for the company in terms of engineering and performance. The basic configuration of the Android 4.0 device will ship with 16GB of internal flash drive, 1GB of RAM, and will have native support for Google’s official Android Market.
According to ZTE’s people on hand at CES 2012, the T98 will retail for around $250 in China. A big bargain considering that this baby packs the new 1.5 GHz Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 chip like the Asus Memo 370T! ZTE should sell gazillion copies of the T98 once it hits the Asian market this month. It’s also confirmed that this ZTE T98 tablet will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream OS.
ZTE T98 Android Tablet’s low price tag is made possible because ZTE is using cheaper plastic-based construction material and thus the T98 is definitely thicker than comparable Android tablets from Samsung, Acer or Motorola. Obviously, it’s not trying to compete with Toshiba Excite X10 as the thinnest tablet PC but offers great hardware instead.
Essential features are also found in the ZTE T98, such as Bluetooth, AGPS, WiFi b/g/n, stereo audio, 3.5mm audio jack, miniSD and micro USB 2.0. Surprisingly, it will also come with two cameras – CMOS sensor-equipped 5-megapixel camera at the back and another 2.0 megapixel front-facing camera. The 5-megapixel camera is also capable of recording full HD 1920x1080p videos.
