Sprint USA customers should be happy to know that the company will start selling the budget-friendly ZTE Optik Android 3.2 Tablet PC starting February 5, 2012. Sprint is asking $99.99 for the ZTE Optik inclusive of a new two-year service contract. But they are also offering this tablet contract-free for $349. It’s a bit more expensive than the Asus Eee Pad Memo 370T because the ZTE Optik got 3G.
The Sprint ZTE Optik Tablet PC version is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. It’s even better than the 1.4GHz single-core processor in the ZTE V9A Light Tab 2. That fact should already impress you. It’s a beast of a machine in spite of its low price tag.
Expect the ZTE Optik to be a delight to use on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform in terms of multi-tasking and 3D gaming.
The 7-inch display is reputed to feature a crystal clear 1280x800p resolution, same resolution as the 10.1-inch Acer A510 Tegra 3 Quad-Core Iconia Tab. It will also have a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera for video conferencing purposes.
The base ZTE Optik model from Sprint will come with the standard 16GB internal storage. There’s WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G but no 4G connectivity though.
It should also be worth noting that the Sprint ZTE Optik Android Tablet PC will come with a large-capacity 4000mAh rechargeable battery which should give this tablet 5-8 hours of operations. Sprint is offering a discounted Smart Cover deal for every purchase of the ZTE Optik.
The Smart Cover is probably a 7-inch version of the iPad Smart Cover with Magnets first created for iPad 2. It has foldable front flaps, magnetic lock and also functions as a stand for the ZTE Optik Tablet PC when needed. Sprint is only asking $44.99 for the Smart Cover for ZTE Optik customers.
Again, the ZTE Optik Android Tablet release date in the US is on February 5, 2012. Watch out for it on Sprint!
