Acer Iconia Tab A501 4G Tablet PC with Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS Coming to AT&T
Acer announced that it has given AT&T distribution rights for their first ever Android Tablet product in the U.S.A. The carrier will be launching the 4G-enabled Acer Iconia Tab A501 tablet computer this coming summer. Apparently, AT&T is no longer relying on the popularity of the iPad and also wants to profit from Android tablet sales.
Another Tegra 2-powered Android tablet is coming out soon. AT&T will be releasing the Acer Iconia Tab A501 in the U.S. very soon.
Acer Iconia Tab A501 Tablet PC will run on the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS and is powered by Nvidia’s dual-core 1 GHz Tegra 2 chip. With Tegra 2, we can safely assume it will offer smooth 1080p HD movie playback and seamless 3D gaming. Acer’s tablet PC will definitely give the Motorola Xoom 10.1″ Smart Tablet PC serious competition. Acer is currently the world’s second-largest PC manufacturer and it seeks to duplicate this success on the tablet sector.
Other features announced for the Acer Iconia Tab A501 are a 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel HD-capable front facing camera, and it will have a larger than the iPad, 10.1-inch multitouch capacitive screen. If the iPad is 3G, AT&T’s Acer Iconia Tab is 4G that will meet face-to-face with the 8.9-inch T-Mobile’s LG G Slate 4G Tablet PC.
Are you going to wait for the Acer Iconia Tab A501? Acer is famous for offering high-quality but affordable computers! I suspect AT&T will be selling this tablet with a price tag cheaper than high-profile Android tablets.
Other than Android 3.0 “Honeycomb” tablets, manufacturers also compete in creating tablet computers with Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” OS. Some of these Gingerbread tablet computers are the HTC Flyer 7-inch Android OS 2.3 Tablet and Enspert Identity Tab.
