Cheap OliPad 100 Android Tablet PC Release Date Announced by Olivetti of Italy
This bit of news reminds me of my old college days. I remember that in 1992 I bought a second-hand Olivetti typewriter from the savings I made out of my monthly scholarship stipends. That is of course before the arrival of cheap tablet PC models like Sylvania Android OS 2.1 and the more feature-packed ViewSonic ViewPad 10 Dual-Boot Tablet PC.
Tablet computers are really destined to conquer not only the household territory but also the workplace. Olivetti, famous for their typewriters populating offices around has now joined the competition with OliPad 100.
For additional info, Olivetti is one of Italy’s most famous brands. It is well-known for making quality office equipment like typewriters, printers and faxes.
Olivetti, however, could not resist the current tablet PC craze and has therefore joined the party. They just announced their upcoming Android tablet product. The Olivetti OliPad 100 Android Tablet PC boasts a dual-core Tegra 2 chip and will reputedly ship out with Android OS 2.2 Froyo. The tentative Olivetti OliPad 100 Android Tablet release date is 2nd half of this year and it will be priced competitively at $554.00, a bit more more expensive than BenQ R100 Android OS 2.2 Tablet PC which was released in China by the manufacturers recently. US, Canada, UK markets are not ignored though.
According to Olivetti’s website, the OliPad 100 is a full multi-touch tablet pc with 10-inch TFT display and thanks to its Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, will feature full 1080p HD playback and 3D gaming. Accordingly, this cheap Android tablet PC hast these technical specs and features to offer: USB 2.0 and miniSD ports in addition to full mobile connectivity with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Also complementing the dual-core Nvidia ARM 9 CPU is 1GB of DDR2 RAM and 16GB of SSD storage. The OliPad 100 will also have a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, HDMI port, two 1Watt speakers, light sensor, accelerometer, and built-in microphone.
