After more than 6 months of delay, Samsung has finally issued the official and free Samsung Bada OS 1.2 update for the original Samsung S8500 Wave mobile phone owners. This announcement was first tweeted by Samsung India and it sure should make a lot of Indian customers happy. Many people who bought the the first-gen badaOS flagship phone have been complaining that although the company released the Samsung Bada OS 1.2 upgrade last November together with Samsung Wave II S8530, the company seemed to have forgotten them.

If you own a Samsung Wave S8500 and you can’t wait for the official release, then go to http://www.samsungfirmwareworld.com/ and register there so you can get this early Bada OS 1.2 patch (S8500XXJID) which is made for the Samsung Wave S8500.
Samsung Wave S8500 Release Date in Canada Set by Bell
The Samsung Wave S8500 release date in Canada can be expected very soon as announced by Bell. With all the iPhone 4 and Motorola Droid X frenzy States-side, Samsung sensed that that Americans have no interest for its first Bada OS smart phone. The Korean company has opted instead to release the Samsung Wave S8500 in Canada. A leaked internal memo from Bell Canada disclosed that it is scheduled to debut the Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone this coming July 8, 2010. The document states that Bell is planning to sell it for $299.95 with service contract. This price of, however, is not yet final because it is for employees-only communication. The final price details will be released on June 28 after Bell receives the first batch of shipment from Samsung.

Perhaps dissatisfied with the current Google Android-mania, Samsung said it is pushing through with the development of the Bada operating sytem. The electronics giant is fully committed to the implementation of Bada. They made the Software Development Kit for Bada available to the public and initiated a Developers Challenge for Bada app developers. The winners will share the prize money totaling $2.7 million. This is a proof of Samsung’s commitment to Bada OS.

Samsung launched its first ever Samsung Wave S8500 mobile phone sporting the Samsung-created Bada operating system (OS). This new model, Samsung Wave S8500, is appropriately-named since Bada means “ocean” in the Korean language. Samsung has proclaimed Bada OS as the world’s best mobile operating system which they decided to produce because of their current dissatisfaction over other mobile operating systems like Windows Mobile 6.5 (read the review of this OS, click on the link to the article for more details).
