July 5, 2010 · Filed Under Internet News · Comment

The Samsung Wave S8500 is finally available for US customers! Samsung has so far failed to find a US carrier partner for its first-ever Bada OS-powered Wave S8500 smartphone. Bell of Canada is already set to launch this unique handset this summer (the official Samsung Wave release date in Canada announced earlier by its carrier) but American customers do not have to go to Canada to get this phone. Amazon is selling an unlocked version of the Samsung Wave S8500 with Bada OS for $399.95. In the UK, the price of Samsung Wave S8500 is much higher ($506 when it first came out in the market).

Samsung Bada OS is a New Mobile Operating System for Smartphones

March 4, 2010 · Filed Under Internet News · 3 Comments

Samsung is betting huge on its core smartphone business with Samsung Bada OS. This is Samsung’s own operating system for smartphones where Samsung Wave S8500 is the first mobile phone that will ever use this OS. They unveiled this in-house operating system last December 2009. Perhaps dissatisfied with the current Google Android-mania, Samsung said it is pushing through with the development of the Bada operating sytem. The electronics giant is fully committed to the implementation of Bada. They made the Software Development Kit for Bada available to the public and initiated a Developers Challenge for Bada app developers. The winners will share the prize money totaling $2.7 million. This is a proof of Samsung’s commitment to Bada OS.
