WASP 17: A New Planet That Orbits Backward (Retrograde Orbit)
Wide Area Search for Planets 17 (WASP 17) is a new planet recently discovered by scientists that allegedly orbits backward. WASP 17 is, according to reports, 1,000 light-years away from Earth and scientists have estimated its size to be twice that of Jupiter. This makes WASP 17 the largest known planet in the universe, as per record. Space.com has a more detailed report on WASP 17 but we’ll try to summarize important things about this new planet discovered very recently.

Sample Photos: 2009 Meteor Shower August 12th
Wondering how the meteor shower on August 12th of 2009 looked like? Well, we have some photos here and in previous articles about the Perseid Meteor Shower 2009. A video was also embedded in our most recent post. You can watch the video of the Meteor Shower taken on August 12th and just imagine how the skies looked like during the short period of time the skies were filled by short bursts of light and “fire ball”. The meteor shower did not even last a minute. The August 12th meteor shower time in my country (Philippines) was between 10-11pm. Sorry guys, we haven’t recorded the time we saw it so there must be some sort of inaccuracy in this aspect of our report.
Perseid Meteor Shower 2009 Philippines
We were lucky to have witnessed part of the Perseid Meteor Shower this 2009 on August 12 (August 11 in other countries), around 10 pm Philippine time. We have covered and witnessed the same Perseid Meteor Shower in 2008 and perhaps we are lucky to have been part of this annual event. This is perhaps much more than watching any TV show or playing around electronic gadgets and devices. 2009 has been a great year for us here and we could only ask for nothing more but increased readership. Hehehe! Read more
Meteor Shower News: Perseid Meteor Shower Seen Today
Last week, scientists predicted that the Perseid Meteor Shower will be seen today. The Perseid Meteor Shower is actually a yearly phenomenon. In the Philippines, we also see these natural phenomena (meteor showers) but the most significant one was I think the meteor shower that happened in 2005 or 2006 (Sorry I can’t recall the exact date).
