HP Quickly Releases Palm webOS 1.4.5 Update, Free Upgrade in France Now Rolling Out
HP means business when it said it intends to develop Palm’s innovative webOS mobile platform. The company who now owns 100% of Palm wasted no time in releasing the free Palm webOS 1.4.5 upgrade patch just two weeks after it got government regulators’ approval of its Palm takeover for $1.2 Billion. Aside from confirming that HP Slate Tablet PC running Windows 7 is dead and will be replaced by a new webOS tablet, HP also reiterated its commitment to continue supporting smart phones like the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi. This update is only available for SFR subscribers in France but Sprint customers may get it soon.
AT&T Palm Pre Plus Offer: Get it on Amazon for Only 1 Cent!
In my previous review of the Palm Pre Plus, I extolled its superior merits over the iPhone 3G. While its lackluster sales in the U.S. have dampened public interest for it, I still urge you to take advantage of this crazy offer from Amazon. The online retailer is now offering the Palm Pre Plus for only $0.01. This is not a typo, my friends. It really says that, check out Amazon and search for the item and see for your self how low this smartphone’s price has become. Naturally, this promo price comes with a service contract. If you are on planning to switch carrier to AT&T and wants to try my favorite mobile operating system, Palm webOS, get this cheap deal for Palm Pre Plus smartphone now.
Download Free Palm WebOS Unreal Engine 3 for Mobile Games
During the Game Developers Conference, Palm Inc. and Epic games demonstrated Unreal Engine 3-powered mobile games running on webOS. Epic Games produced blockbuster game titles like Unreal Tournament 3 and Gears of War, both of which were crafted using the industry-leading Unreal Engine 3. The engine was also used to develop other consoles games like Mass Effect and Batman: Arkham Asylum. The two companies hope to inspire other game developers to develop visually-rich 3D games for webOS devices. The Unreal Engine 3 is now free to download at http://www.udk.com/.
Palm Releases Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) For WebOS
Palm Inc. is coming out with its own development platform for third-party application developers. In lieu of Google’s recent update to the Android OS with the NDKr3 version, Palm is fighting back with its own first ever Plug-in Development Kit for webOS. The Plug-in Development Kit is a new tool for developers to easily use C and C++ programming in tandem with the web technologies that powers webOS. The PDK will allow developers who already created games or softwares for the iPhone or Android handsets to seamlessly port them to webOS devices. Developers will no longer be hampered by incompatibility of machine codes.

A few hours ago, Palm released WebOS 1.1 which re-enabled syncing in iTunes 8.2.1 (see our past article on iTunes 8.2.1 Disbling Support for the Palm Pre). Palm Pre Web OS: Palm Mojo Software Development Kit Released
The Palm Mojo Software Development Kit (SDK Beta for developers only) was launched by Palm last week. This is specifically for Palm Pre but other models might be able to use the Palm Web OS once developments of apps via Web OS software development kit are done and ready for use. With Palm Pre gaining more popularity among mobile phone fanatics in the US and other parts of the globe (Philippines included), the move to allow web apps developers to openly participate in apps development is indeed very timely.
