Motorola W233 Renew: Eco-Friendly Mobile Phone
Motorola came up with a mobile phone that is environmentally-friendly (eco-friendly) – the Motorola W233 Renew. Why eco-friendly? The Motorola W233 Renew is a cell phone model made of recycled plastic materials. Yup. From old water bottles that we usually throw in our garbage bins.
According to Motorola, the Motorola W233 Renew cell phone is “the industry’s cell phone made from plastics that contain recycled water bottles and is the first certified Carbonfree cell phone on the market. Through an alliance with Carbonfund.org, we offset the energy to manufacture, distribute and operate the phone by investing in renewable energy sources and reforestation. In fact, 100% of the Motorola W233 Renew’s phone housing is recyclable. Inside the box, you’ll find a prepaid envelope to return your old phone for recycling.”
With this unique concept for a cell phone material, Motorola in my humble opinion, has done something good for the environment. For me, this innovation is a win-win situation for both the manufacturers and consumers. With the features and specs of Motorola W233 Renew not far behind its contemporaries like Palm Pre Touchscreen Smartphone, the use of recyclable materials for the Motoral W233 Renew’s housing is an added benefit. I wonder when will Nokia, LG and Blackberry follow this huge step.
Here are some screenshots of the Motorola W233 Renew cell phone (features and specifications included) which employed “green technology” in the production which makes it the first eco-friendly cell phone I know. Personally, I’d like to see mobile phone makers create more phones like this one.
