Mozilla Firefox Home App for iPhone and iPod Touch Ready for iTunes AppStore Approval
Mozilla Labs, the non-profit firm responsible for the second-most popular web browser Firefox, has submitted their first ever official iPhone app to Apple. The iPhone phenomenon has been around for almost 3 years but it is only now that the development team is releasing an iPhone-compatible but watered-down version of its robust Firefox web browser. They are optimistic they won’t have any trouble getting approved for distribution on the iTunes App Store. After all, Apple allowed Opera Mini quickly without a fuss even though it competes with Safari on the iPhone.
Voice and Text Messaging App for iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch: Video Tutorial
If you have read our previous post on the Free Dragon Dictation App (download it free via Apple App Store) and is curious about how to convert voice data into text, here’s a video tutorial. Dragon Dictation is really very simple to use, yet it is s very powerful mobile app for the iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod Touch. It has the ability to convert voice data to text message and email. Just say the words clearly and you’re ready to go. If you’re lazy typing text messages like us, you gotta download this free mobile phone app. It’s created by Nuance Communications, Inc.
Download Free Dragon Dictation App for iPhone and iPod Touch via Apple App Store
If iPhone OS 4 can only provide a built-in voice app where you can dictate to your iPhone and iTouch, then there would be no need for Dragon Dictation, a free mobile app. A major turn off for the iPhone 3G and 3GS for me is its lack of QWERTY keyboard. I have a hard time typing on the onscreen keyboard for sending emails and SMS. I feel cramped when typing out email notes and text messages on it; I am forced to send very short messages. To be honest, I try to avoid sending text messages on my iPhone 3GS. When an SMS comes in and it requires prompt reply, I whip out my Blackberry or Nokia phones to reply with. It is embarrassing to admit but I have clumsy fingers when it comes to iPhone typing.
Play the Addictive Mafia Wars on Your iPhone 3G/3GS or iPod Touch
Mafia Wars is an addictive and persistent game, and being away from the keyboard can be disastrous to your Mafioso. You can be killed countless times and be robbed repeatedly while you are sleeping or busy working. If you want to keep eye on your Mafioso while you are away from your desktop or laptop computer, you can use your iPhone 3G or 3GS and iPod Touch to play Mafia Wars and keep your game alive anywhere, anytime. Savvy!
First thing you should do is to download Zynga’s Mafia Wars version for the iPhone or iPod Touch from Apple’s App Store (the only source I know).
iDriver: Drive Your Car Remotely Using Your iPhone 3G and 3GS
A cool app for the iPhone called iDriver developed by Appirion UG is being tested at the Free University of Berlin which enables anyone to drive a car remotely via WiFi. How cool is that for iPhone 3G and 3GS users? With iDriver, steering, brake and acceleration commands can be sent through WiFi. If you’re a lazy car driver, you’ll find this befitting. It’s even more convenient if you know a little about networking.
The car is set-up with a drive-by-wire system that serves as the brain of the Remote Control (RC) car, video cameras, 3D Laser Sensors, GPS for accurate navigation and WiFi as communication link to the iPhone.
