It’s been almost a month since Limewire got killed by a court ruling which shut it down due to a civil suit by the music industry. Millions of free music lovers around the world mourned the passing of this iconic music sharing service. Limewire suffered the same fate of Napster, another famous music sharing application.

Mac and Linux users who needs a free and stable Bittorrent program should consider my favorite cross-platform program, Transmission 2.0. I found it to be the fastest Bittorrent desktop app for Mac OS and it’s a lot more memory-efficient than Vuze. The open-source community for developing this small but very fast Bittorrent client has just released version 2.0. and this free P2P file sharing program is now available for free download on their website (http://www.transmissionbt.com/download.php). There are many free file sharing programs that you can actually download online. Some of the file sharing programs I use are BitTorrent and microTorrent – both P2P (peer-to-peer softwares). With these file sharing programs, people can actually share their photos, documents, videos and free softwares online. There is one problem with these file sharing programs though – download speeds are variable depending on the number of ‘seeders’ (people sharing the same file). The more seeders, the better.
