BuduControl Freeware Internet Cafe Management Software Review: Highly Recommended for Internet Cafe Owners

July 21, 2010 · Filed Under Free Softwares · 1 Comment

If you own an internet cafe and looking for a free Internet Cafe Management software, then this review is for you. We have hands-on experience in using this software and we’ve tested this one for some years now. If you are a regular reader of this blog then you already know that aside from my regular writing gig here, I also earn some money by operating a small internet cafe beside my house. I’ve been operating this business since 2002 and I was able to buy a nice 2nd-hand vehicle from the profits. There’s a good income from operating an internet cafe with 10 computer units. Even though most people on Earth have internet access in their homes, some individuals still prefer to hang out at internet cafes or computer rental shops for networking, for the social gathering experience and perhaps privacy despite the place being public. Ironic.

July 21, 2010 · Filed Under Free Softwares · 2 Comments

Computer experts are encouraging consumers to try biometrics technology to secure their computers. One of which is Acer Bio Protection for notebooks. Typing in passwords is no longer enough to safeguard sensitive data inside your laptop or home PC. Some manufacturers are now e-shipping laptops and netbooks with built-in fingerprint identification system. This is a clear acknowledgment in the industry that adding better security measures is needed in this era of sophisticated hackers. Biometrics doesn’t usually come free but a company called Luxand issued a free software called Blink! that offers a precise face recognition login system for 32-bit Windows7 and Vista OS computers. You can download it free from their website located at http://www.luxand.com/download/LuxandBlinkSetup.exe.

PCLinuxOS: The Linux Distro With a Look and Feel of Windows

April 20, 2009 · Filed Under Linux Distros · Comment

We are currently downloading the PCLinuxOS 2009.1 release and from the looks of it, this Linux distro is looking more and more like Windows. We are not sure how will this Linux distro compare with Linux Ubuntu 9.04 (the latest release of Ubuntu). We love Linux but we cannot live without Windows (sigh). Most of our important programs are Windows-based. Even the games we play run exclusively under Windows. And this is the problem why cannot fully migrate Linux. Our hard drives are always Dual OS and partitioning is sometimes a problem.

There are many computer tools like free anti-virus softwares, firewall softwares and secure email softwares that can be downloaded over the internet. The reason why computer tools like these are needed is simple: you can’t trust everything online. When you transact online, it’s possible that you could be hijacked by malwares like the Limbo malware, or when you open your email, your mailbox could be infected by the alleged Torch/Invitation Virus. Even cell phones could be attacked by viruses. WTF!!
