Windows 7 Beta Download Links Available But Hesitant to Download
I have blogged a few days ago about the free Windows 7 Beta download. Windows 7 Beta is the latest operating system released by Microsoft. Windows 7 Beta download links are already available but I am hesitant to download the OS. First off, it’s still a Beta version, meaning a version mainly for testing purposes. Windows 7 Beta download was made free by Microsoft so that the public can participate in testing the product.
Having said that, I have this weird feeling that the free Windows 7 Beta download has a catch. Will the OS run for an unlimited amount of time (no expiration)? Is it worth testing Windows 7 Beta if my computer already contains valuable data? Of course I can always backup my files onto a blank DVDR but the point is I cannot sacrifice testing Windows 7 Beta using my computers especially my main unit. All my computers at home are loaded with softwares and files, not to mentioned being heavily used everyday.
I’m not sure yet about the reliability of Windows 7 Beta. Download might take a long time (that’s almost certain because of the number of excited testers). Also, bugs in Windows 7 Beta will most likely be discovered after a few days and by that time I will have lost valuable data. I fear that if Windows 7 Beta screws up, I will spend more time restoring backup files and reinstalling my softwares than actually enjoying it. If you have a spare computer and time, head on to Windows 7 Beta download links and test the OS. As for me, I’d wait the experts’ opinions on this matter. I could say that I’m not yet ready to give up my working copy of Windows Vista. Even if I have a spare hard disk partition to test drive Windows 7 Beta, at the back of my head, I am not willing to spend my time on this task. Download and installation alone could be painfully time-consuming.
Windows 7 Beta Download: Free Download Now Available
Microsoft is offering the Windows 7 Beta download for free. Yes, free download of Windows 7 Beta. You heard it right. It’s official. Microsoft, for the first time in my recollection, is allowing free download of Windows 7 Beta. Not quite the style of Microsoft in the past, huh? Microsoft also claims that Windows 7 Beta is faster and more secure than its predecessors. According to their website, Windows 7 Beta “is the next version of the Windows Client operating system. Designed based on your feedback, it will make everyday tasks faster and easier, make your PC work the way you want it to, and make new things possible.”
I am not really sure if this is just a publicity stunt but I’m willing to download Windows 7 Beta for free. I will update this article when I have tested this OS. Previously, I have published my opinion on the release of Windows 7 Beta in this article “Windows 7 Release: Just a Windows Vista Upgrade or a Separate Windows OS?“. I have also published some Windows 7 screenshots for Windows users’ info on this new OS. The screenshots are great but an operating system is not judged solely by its screenshots but by performance and features.
