Microsoft Windows 7 Family Pack Upgrade to Home Premium Price: Too High or Just Fair?

October 26, 2009 · Filed Under Windows · Comment

Do you think Microsoft Windows 7 Family Pack price is too high? For us, the answer is not really. That’s our personal evaluation of the prices Microsoft announced a few months ago. The Family Pack version of Windows 7 is priced at $149.95 when it was first introduced to the public. In fact, MS inadvertently confirmed that the price and availability of Windows 7 family pack upgrade  DVD ROM by referencing it in the licensing terms of a test version of Windows 7 RC2 that leaked onto the Internet.

October 22, 2009 · Filed Under Windows · 1 Comment

After so much testing on the new Windows 7, most of the games tested ran smoothly and without noticeable degradation in game performance and stability. This was done by some of our teams and other sites which deal with one of the latest desktop PC operating systems in the market today.

Come to think that Windows 7 is still in its early stages, any glitch that may come along the way will be fixed and improved. Windows Vista introduced the games explorer which is improved on Windows 7 (see screenshot below) taking Windows 7 gaming a mile further. This feature serves as a central repository of games, and instead of looking for the shortcuts in the menu or the links on the desktop, everything is conveniently located in one organized place.

PCLinuxOS: The Linux Distro With a Look and Feel of Windows

April 20, 2009 · Filed Under Linux Distros · Comment

We are currently downloading the PCLinuxOS 2009.1 release and from the looks of it, this Linux distro is looking more and more like Windows. We are not sure how will this Linux distro compare with Linux Ubuntu 9.04 (the latest release of Ubuntu). We love Linux but we cannot live without Windows (sigh). Most of our important programs are Windows-based. Even the games we play run exclusively under Windows. And this is the problem why cannot fully migrate Linux. Our hard drives are always Dual OS and partitioning is sometimes a problem.

Linux Ubuntu’s latest stable release is Ubuntu 8.10 and we’ve been using this since its first day of release. Now, Linux Ubuntu get an update and its version 9.04 is about to be seen a few days from now. Linux Ubuntu 9.04 features have not been revealed yet but we assume it addresses some bugs in the 8.10 release. There is no perfect software and we expect no Linux distro to be perfect as well. But we love Linux and we will keep on supporting the opensource community in any way we can.

January 21, 2009 · Filed Under Linux Distros · 1 Comment

Linux Mint 6 Felicia: I haven’t fully tested yet Linux Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop Edition and I almost forgot about Linux Mint 6 (which was emailed by a friend two months ago). Now, here comes the latest udpate to Linux Mint 6 also known as “Felicia” XFCE CE RC1. I have once looked into the features and specs of Linux Mint 5 (Elyssa) and that Linux distro simply rocks. It was fast-loading and has lots of cool green wallpapers and themes. Green is relaxing to the eyes, FYI.
