Research In Motion revealed their planned launch of their new BlackBerry Social Platform during the ongoing BlackBerry Developers Conference 2010. RIM said they will be opening up some developer options in their exclusive BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 (BBM 5) software to third-party developers. Outside programmers will then be able to take advantage of the chat, contacts, profiles, file transfer, groups, and invitation functions of BlackBerry Messenger. Third-party party developers will be able to integrate these options to their paid and free apps for the BlackBerry OS.
