The Wall Street Journal reported that Research In Motion (RIM) of Canada is scheduled to hold a press event this end of September to unveil their long-rumored tablet computer product, the Blackberry BlackPad Tablet PC. Formerly codenamed as the Blackberry Cobalt, the BlackBerry BlackPad Tablet is now getting ready for its commercial release date. RIM has already purchased the domain name www.blackpad.com last July and judging by the rapid development of events, the BlackPad might be available in the US and Canada by November this year.

The BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G was recently launched by T-Mobile US last September 8. The Curve 9300 3G is available for only $79.99 under a 3-year contract. Rogers of Canada also offered it earlier to their Canadian customers at around the same price point. BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G is one of RIM’s latest smartphone products that are BlackBerry OS 6-ready. While it is not as impressive as the Blackberry Torch 9800, it offers a much cheaper price.

I’m posting my BlackBerry Torch 9800 hands-on review here after 7 days of using the phone in my workplace. After overcoming a threatened ban of BlackBerry phones in India, Research in Motion (RIM) of Canada is happy to announce that their latest smart phone offering, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is selling well. The company’s stock price has also recovered a bit from the pummeling it got when countries around the world warned BlackBerry users of possible banning. I was fortunate to test this unique BlackBerry phone 3 hours ago when my boss, newly-arrived from the United States, let me play with it. I have to say I’m astonished that the Blackberry Torch 9800 is a slider phone. After a few days of exploring its features, I can say I am totally impressed!

RIM Avoids Blackberry Ban In India, Fears Getting Banned in UAE and Saudi Arabia Too

Research in Motion (RIM) made a successful last-ditch effort to avoid an immediate Blackberry ban in India. August 31 was the deadline set by the Indian government for the Canadian-company to have Blackberry users’ encrypted email and IM messages be accessible to government and regulatory bodies. India is just one of several countries who are threatening complete ban against Research in Motion Blackberry smartphones. Like Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE), government officials in India feared Blackberry’s encrypted email and Instant Messaging system might be used by criminals to cause public damage and mayhem. This is really bad for business because after the release of Blackberry Torch 9800, RIM hoped to increase its stronghold in India.

Apple iPad vs Blackberry Tablet PC? Nice heads up, right? A tech industry analyst Ashok Kumar has went on record claiming that the upcoming Blackberry Tablet PC is already under final touches by Research In Motion (RIM). Kumar is saying that his source within the company has told him this tablet computer will no longer be a mere companion device for Blackberry phones. It will be a real competitor to the the iPad. Apple Retaliates and Countersues Kodak For Patent Infringements

The best defense is a great offense! Apple isn’t being meek. In response to Kodak’s lawsuit against Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) in January, Apple fought back by suing Kodak. It filed a patent complaint last April 15 with the U.S. International Trade Commission alleging that Kodak was actually the one who violated two of Apple’s digital imaging patents.
