Archos 3 Vision Portable Media Player Review: Great Value for Money vs iPod Touch

March 21, 2010 · Filed Under MP3 Players · 1 Comment

Archos 3 Vision Portable Media Player Review: The low price would let you think the Archos 3 Vision portable media player is perhaps made of cheap plastic parts but it isn’t. The construction felt solid and I think the back is made of some brushed aluminum alloy. Handling the Archos 3 Vision is easy but I would like to point out that its resistive touch screen display requires repeat tapping to respond. I am not saying it is poor but it isn’t the most sensitive touch screen that lets you tap lightly and get something done right away.

With Archos 3 Vision portable media player, Archos has created a low-priced portable music and video player that offers a lot more features than the low-priced iPod Nano 4th generation, and a very good alternative to iPod Touch and iPod Classic if you’re looking for cheap a portable media player. The Archos 3 Vision portable media player has a low price as well and can be yours for as low as 79.20 British Pounds (shipping fee included). That’s less than $120 to obtain a high-tech mobile MP3/MP4 player with 8GB of built-in storage.

Archos 9 PCTablet With Windows 7 Edition Review: Not A Good Combo

February 17, 2010 · Filed Under Laptops/Notebooks · 1 Comment

The initial release of the Archos 9 PCTablet last year suffered poor reviews. CNET review gave it a 2.5 stars rating because of its sluggish performance. Even users showed their dismay for the Archos 9, most of them giving it a negative review. Buyers called it an overpriced touchscreen netbook that retails for $550 (basic price) but is not even as fast as the low-range netbooks in the market. CNET and other reviewers put the blame on the mediocre 1.6GHz Atom Z510 processor which is single-threaded. The Windows 7 Starter edition was also lacking the full tablet features of Windows 7 that is why the Archos 9 wasn’t maximizing its sensitive touch screen.

Archos 7 Internet Media Tablet Review, Price and Specs

The French company that made Archos 5 has responded to people’s request for a bigger screen for their popular portable media player. The Archos 7 is the answer to this. The 7 in the model name denotes the larger high resolution: 7-inch screen. I have been a fan of the Archos 5 ever since it came to market in 2008. The introduction of this thin and highly portable internet and media player has ushered in a new reign of tablet computers. Before the Apple iPad hype (see Review in the linked article), Archos was the most talked-about tablet computer in 2009 for its innovative technology. It combined a stellar internet connectivity and superior HD movie viewing.

Archos 5 Internet Tablet Android 1.6 Firmware Update

February 16, 2010 · Filed Under Internet News · 3 Comments

The French company maker of Archos 5 suffered public embarrassment last December when it first issued and then canceled their Android 1.6 update. The Archos 5 internet tablet owners were mollified that the firm actually did a last-minute cancel of its free Android 1.6 Firmware update after it was found to be corrupting the Android OS (read more about New Android Phones in our archives)! Some customers felt betrayed by ARCHOS. If you remember, Amazon.com pulled the 160 GB versions of Archos 5 last October 2009 after another firmware update caused dozens of glitches in the device.
