The prices for the two iPad models are as follows: Apple iPad Wi-Fi model retails for $499 for the 16GB model, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi+3G model range will only become available towards the end of April with price tags of US$629 for 16GB, US$729 for 32GB and US$829 for 64GB. Apple Inc. also announced that both iPad models will be available starting late April in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

Thousands of eager buyers swamped Apple’s online shop to preorder the iPad Tablet PC. After it went on sale last March 12 at 8:30AM Eastern Standard Time, the iPad was estimated to have sold more than 51,000 units within two hours. This has been reported by analysts at Investor Village AAPL Sanity Board particularly by Victor Castroll, an analyst employed at Valcent Financial Group. Apple (APPL) has not released any official sales figures but the guys of AAPL Sanity Board took the initiative and worked out a Google spreadsheet to monitor the order confirmation numbers including their own purchases. After 2 ½ hours, the group received 15 different Apple iPad order numbers as high as 74,000.

Fujitsu Will Sue Apple for Using iPad as the Name of Its Tablet PC
Aha, the magical Apple Tablet PC isn’t available for sale yet but it’s earning itself already lawsuit from Fujitsu. The Japanese company lawyers are drawing up the legal papers in preparation for filing a trademark suit versus the Cupertino California company. Fujitsu is claiming first use of the term iPad and it has enough evidence to claim prior use of the iPad brand name. Apple iPad, as a brand name, can be a goner if this legal case prospers. Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is really expanding this 2010 with its intent to release a Tablet PC. According to the venerable business publication Wall Street Journal, Steve Jobs will make a rare appearance on Apple’s quarterly report on January 27, 2010 (today). No official release date for the Apple Tablet PC has been included in the report but is expected that Apple Tablet PC will be officially unveiled to the public. Is this Apple’s response to Hewlett-Packard’s HP Slate Tablet PC? I suspect so. Competition is good for us consumers.
