Like other Xperia X10 owners, I was hoping that the software upgrade would have included the Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) or better yet, Android 2.2 Froyo update. The first problem I have noticed with with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is its old Android OS. Not all people can afford to pay $199.99 for the HTC EVO 4G and get themselves locked in a very expensive 2-year service contract with Sprint. Knowing this fact of life, HTC is coming up with another budget Android phone to succeed the HTC Tattoo. The company has already released their latest cost-friendly HTC Wildfire with Android OS 2.1 on the U.K. market last month. Rumor has it that the company is trying to negotiate with a small U.S. carrier to carry the HTC Wildfire Android Phone into the American shores. If the deal pushes through, expect the HTC Wildfire with Android 2.1 OS to retail for as low as $25 on a two-year service contract or it even be given free to subscribers.
