Facebook “Stories” App Launched after Facebook Users Reached 500 Million in Number

Date Published: July 28, 2010

I’m sure Google and Yahoo aren’t happy with this news especially that Google Me social networking platform is in the works. Facebook, after only 6 years of existence, has reached a major milestone by reaching 500 million members. The social networking site’s young founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg made this significant announcement on his blog. Google Me producers (Google and Zynga) must be upset but who cares? Obviously, very proud and jubilant of this record-setting feat, Zuckerberg said this level of success was never imagined when he launched Facebook 6 years ago from his college dorm.

As a way to celebrate and add more feather to Facebook’s success, Zuckerberg announced that they are about to launch another application for all Facebook users. This new social app called “Stories” will allow users to write their Facebook-related stories and share them with their friends. People may also read other people’s stories and tales.

Our mission is to help make the world more open and connected. Stories or examples of that mission and are both humbling and inspiring,” the young CEO wrote in his blog post.

Facebook Apps Get An Addition With Facebook Stories

Facebook Hits 500 Million Users Now Launches A New Blogging App Called "Stories"

I believe the “Stories” app is a blogging medium for Facebook. Another social networking site, Twitter, is also one of the fastest rising stars on the web and its microblogging format has attracted hundreds of millions. Obviously, Facebook wants to keep its users happy with this new blogging app. Some people addicted to micro-blogging might even be tempted to join Facebook and quit Twitter or Tumblr.

I believe Facebook will soon hit the magic number – ONE BILLION members within the next 3 years. If the number of Facebook users worldwide reaches this number, there will definitely be a New Web Order! Google, MSN, Yahoo and other web giants today will all bow to the King of the Internet! One billion users loyal to just one website, Facebook, means a bottomless oil well for advertising! If you don’t believe it, read about Zynga Games Earnings for 2009 alone. In fact, Zynga’s hit game, Farmville single-handedly earned $145M because of its popularity among FB users globally. I predict Facebook will become bigger than Google in the next decade! Remember, it’s much easier for Facebook to integrate web search than for Google to create a massive social networking site!
