Linux Ubuntu 9.04 Release is Underway

Date Published: April 15, 2009

Linux Ubuntu’s latest stable release is Ubuntu 8.10 and we’ve been using this since its first day of release. Now, Linux Ubuntu get an update and its version 9.04 is about to be seen a few days from now. Linux Ubuntu 9.04 features have not been revealed yet but we assume it addresses some bugs in the 8.10 release. There is no perfect software and we expect no Linux distro to be perfect as well. But we love Linux and we will keep on supporting the opensource community in any way we can.

One of the many things we love about Linux Ubuntu is the level of protection it gives to its users. It is rarely infected by viruses. In fact we have not experienced any virus attack since using Fedora and Red Hat in 2005. The platform was not even bothered by the April 1st virus or Conficker C Worm (which threatened the whole WWW community on April 1) since most viruses only attack vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system. This is the biggest edge of Linux distros over Windows OSes.

Linux is fast and reliable. From our own experience we could vouch for the reliability of this platform and we’re really to know that Linux Ubuntu 9.04 will be finally released on April 23, 2009. We can assure that we will be one of the first 1,000 to download this upgrade and test it in one of our test laptops/notebooks ASAP. As usual, the upgrade will come in two editions – the desktop edition and server edition. Since the desktop edition (8.10) has been tested well using several notebooks we own, it’s about time we focus our attention on the server edition because we haven’t done much exploring of its features just yet.
