Mhy,

Ubuntu is actually a great OS especially for laptops. It has built-in applications like a word processor, a spreadsheet, an image editing software, a music/media player, etc. Also there are tons of free software applications for Ubuntu which you can download from the internet. If I may suggest, go for it. There are already 8 million (and counting) users of Linux so you can be sure there's support for any problem you'll encounter. In fact I'm testing the new Ubuntu 8.10... It rocks! Very nice user interface and runs very fast.

Jess,

Hubby has just asked me if I can or I will try to use Ubunto, as he's planning to buy the Asus Eee with Ubunto, though I've waited for Win XP. But now I'm confused. Anyhow, hubby's building another computer using Ubunto as OS so we can get used to it daw.

This is what I'm talking about!! Linux will win the race and Microsoft Windows will be trailing behind. Watch out Microsoft. Linux is the new sheriff in town. The latest Ubuntu release is simply beautiful.
