yeah i have to admit this is one area that needs improvement on linux ubuntu. i hope this gets fixed in their next release.

Ubuntu is actually a great OS especially for laptops. It has built-in applications like a word processor, a spreadsheet, an image editing software, a music/media player, etc. Also there are tons of free software applications for Ubuntu which you can download from the internet. If I may suggest, go for it. There are already 8 million (and counting) users of Linux so you can be sure there’s support for any problem you’ll encounter. In fact I’m testing the new Ubuntu 8.10… It rocks! Very nice user interface and runs very fast.

Hubby has just asked me if I can or I will try to use Ubunto, as he’s planning to buy the Asus Eee with Ubunto, though I’ve waited for Win XP. But now I’m confused. Anyhow, hubby’s building another computer using Ubunto as OS so we can get used to it daw.
