Review: D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter/Dongle Installation, Features and Specifications
Why are we featuring the D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter and posting a review of this wireless adapter? we’re using it in our home network, that’s why. With D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G, you can easily connect to your wireless network (home, office or simply SOHO) to surf the net, write and read emails and video chat with family or friends online. This wireless adapter works with 802.11g and 802.11b wireless networks. The D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter (dongle to some folks) offers simple network connectivity without the hassle of running a network cable at a good speed – 54MBPS. Not bad for a nifty gadget. All you need to have is a spare USB port and you’re good to go. It could be used without a driver in Windows Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate but in our experience, it’s better to install the driver provided by the manufacturer to enable and run the Network Connection Manager – an added benefit for easier and better networking of 3 or more laptops and/or desktop computers without Wifi (combination of notebooks and desktop PC’s are ok).
The product package contains:
- DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter
- CD-ROM (Installation CD, Manual and Warranty)
- Cradle
This DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter sports a maximum speed of 54Mbs and is backwards compatible with 802.11b networks.
To quickly install the adapter, simply remove the D-Link CD ROM and insert it into your CD / DVD -ROM drive and click “Install Driver” and follow the instructions on screen to finish the driver installation. Consult the product manual should problems are encountered. After the driver installation, you can now safely plug the DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter on one of your USB ports and wait for a few seconds for the Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 to detect and configure itself for the new DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter.

Our D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter or dongle Review: This is one of the few networking tools that we love. It’s cheap (D-Link DWA-110 Wireless G USB Adapter price is less than $20 or PhP1,000) and easy to install. With an available USB port, this dongle works like a regular flash drive. The only thing that makes us frown is when the weather is not good. The signal gets weak when it rains or windy, common problem in wireless networking. The range, based on test is about 10 meters only (in open field). In confined spaces (blocked by concrete walls), the signal gets much weaker with 3 bars at most in our taskbar (indicator). Despite that, if your internet connection is good, you’ll get the same goodies even if your indicator registers only 1 bar. This is a good tool for wireless local area networking (WLAN) in close range. Beyond 10 meters and/or with too much intereference (walls and/or radio waves), you’ll probably get no signal at all using this.
