Trillian Chat App for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, HTC Evo 4G, Motorola Droid X and other Android Phones

Cerulean Studios, maker of the world’s first multi-protocol chat software Trillian, announced that they are almost ready to ship the first Trillian Chat app for Android devices. They have already released version 1.3 of Trillian for iOS 4 and due to popular demand, the company will also release an Android version very soon. They are almost done porting the code from the iPhone iOS 4 version to the Java language used by Google’s operating system. Just like most of you, readers, since getting my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 android phone, I’ve been hunting, downloading, testing and evaluating free apps for my android phone and I guess, the Trillian Chat app is one good candidate for download.

The Android version of Trillian app will not only support chatting with your friends at Yahoo Messenger 10, AOL or MSN, but will also be compatible with Facebook Chat, MySpace IM, Google Talk and Jabber/XMPP. I’m most impressed that Trillian for Android will support Facebook Chat, most of my friends now are there and they stay logged in most of the day. Chatting with them will soon be more convenient with this app. Your Trillian account information can be synchronized between your computer and your Android phone. You can also receive instant IM notifications through the built-in Google Android notification bar.

Aside from its multi-protocol chat capabilities, Trillian will also support status messages, display names, contact grouping and sorting. Chatting with multiple people is looking to be easy because this Android version will have outright support for multiple tabbing of your current chat sessions. Lastly, Trillian for Android will support photo sharing. You will need to have at least Android OS 1.6 to run this app.

No word yet how much will it cost but the Trillian for iPhone sells for $4.99 on iTunes App Store. I hope Cerulean Studios sells it cheaper on the Android Market. Better yet if Trillian becomes a free app for Android phones so we can all chat all we want without spending a nickel. Of course, everyone loves free stuff. lol!
