However, this iPhone app later revealed a huge flaw that earned mixed reviews from Quip Text users. PROS: In our Quip Text review, we may say this iPhone app is great for the reasons mentioned below. It can be downloaded for only $0.99. After installing it on the iPhone, Quip Text user may send unlimited picture messages to any phone. It is definitely cheaper than using iPhone MMS. Sender and receiver of Quip Text messages only need text messaging and a web browser. Quip Text iPhone App is very simple, no log-in necessary to send Quips. Here was how it worked:
- Take a picture or choose from your library
- Choose any contact
- Recipient gets a text msg with a clickable link. Or if they have Quip, it comes as a push notification
CONS: Quip text’s weak security led to a huge privacy failure! According to web developer reviews, Quip text used only 5 alphanumeric which are not case-sensitive characters for the URL so it was easily cracked. All you know, private picture messages sent through Quip Text were made available to everyone online. Quip Text’s security was breached and failed to keep messages private. With regards to security level, our Quip Text review gave it two thumbs down and a huge red mark.
