Eliminate: Gun Range Game App for iPhone 4 – First Game App to Use Gyroscope Control
It’s only been a few weeks since the iPhone 4 landed on the planet but a game developer has already come up with a very impressive First-Person-Shooter game that takes advantage of the new gyroscope controls. Ngmoco Inc. has released a $0.99 shooting-game called Eliminate: Gun Range at iTunes Store (http://itunes.apple.com/app/eliminate-gunrange/id377754042?mt=8) that claims support for gyroscopic controls. If you are confused, a gyroscope is a device that measures orientation in addition to acceleration. Planes use gyroscopes to measure their flying pitch, roll, and yawn. Ngmoco’s Gun Range is not about flying by shooting targets but the same principles apply. This game offers precision handling of guns that mimics real-life action. Unfortunately, if you want to download the free Eliminate: Gun Range game app for iPhone 4 (and iPhone 3GS/3G), you’ll have to succumb to the ads running while playing the game in your iPhone or iPod Touch (yes you can play it on iTouch and iPad Tablet PC, too). I’m first and foremost a gamer, I don’t really care much about the iPhone new HD video capabilities or the FaceTime video-calling feature. I just wanted to find out if the latest brainchild of Steve Jobs can outdo the 3GS gaming experience. I was really excited about the new addition of gyroscope and Gun Range’s initiative to support it bids well for a new gaming experience for iPhone 4 owners.
Eliminate: Gun Range is the First iPhone 4 Game That Has Gyroscope Control Support
While Ngmoco is the first one, expect all iPhone iOS 4.0 game developers to upgrade or create new game titles to offer the same gyroscopic control. The iPhone 4 will continue to dominate portable gaming because of this new feature. Nintendo has already acknowledged Apple’s iPhone devices as its fiercest competitor in handheld gaming.
Aside from including support for iPhone’s gyroscope feature, Ngmoco’s Gun Range also boast HD-quality graphics that plays out vividly on the iPhone 4’s Retina display. The game world texture has been revamped to offer higher resolution gaming that’s almost comparable with bigger game consoles like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (PS3). I’m absolutely in awe that a game like Gun Range can play so smoothly on a phone!
