Pocket-size mobile DJ-ing is now possible with the release of Algoriddim’s Djay app for iPhone 4/3GS and iPod Touch. Algoriddim released Djay for the iPad last February, which is also in preparation for the iPad 2 release date, and due to insistent public demand, they decided to release a phone-size version of their excellent app. Djay for iPhone/iPod Touch is now available at iTunes for $9.99. You can download this iPhone app slash iPod Touch app and pay for the price quoted.
While the Apple iPad version is more expensive at $19.99, the cheaper iPhone version of Algorridim Djay has the same features and functions. Due to the smaller display of the iPhone and iPod Touch, users will have to use this app in landscape mode to bring out the two virtual turntables. In portrait mode, only one virtual deck is visible, making it almost impossible to create a decent song mash-up!
The iPhone version still features the same analog-like controls over two turntables with matching cue points. You can do Beats Per Minute (BPM) matching, pre-cue songs on headphone slitter and create AirPlay audio for automixing. And just like the iPad version, you can also do automatic looping just by holding one button. The auto loop feature allows you to customize duration of loops you want to create and also helps you sync them automatically to any song.
More complex song mixes are possible because Algoriddim expanded the cue points to 4. The iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS version also can automatically detect the BPM for any songs in your iTunes library without having to load them on the turntable. Lastly, this cool music app can now output to external audio like Bluetooth headset, wireless headphones or speakers.
Algoriddim Djay requirements calls for an iOS 4.2 update or newly installed on your device. You must also have at least an iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 3rd Generation to use this app. iPod Touch 4 (iTouch 4th Generation) will have no problem running this cool music app.
