2D Boy, developer of the hugely popular strategic World of Goo game on the iPad, announced in their official blog that they just submitted the iPhone version of their game to the App Store for approval. As well all know, there’s been a chronic shortage of iPad 2 stocks so 2D Boy’s decision to offer their game to the smaller screen iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS is a great relief.
The physics-based game World of Goo for the Apple iPad became a huge hit when it was first released. Even though it was selling for $10, it sold an impressive 125,000 copies in its first month. It requires gamers to spend happy hours of fun strategic thinking.
2D Boy says they plan to release the World of Goo for iPhone and iPod Touch version for only $2.99 when Apple approves it. But, as a way to thank their legions of fans, they will be selling the game for $0.99 for the first 24 hours of its release on iTunes AppStore.
They aren’t saying any final release date yet. So you will have to keep a vigilant eye on their official blog for the next few days so you can be one of the first to avail of their 24-hour debut sale for World of Goo iPhone/iPod Touch Edition. Because they made so much money already, 2D Boy said people who already bought World of Goo HD for iPad can get the iPhone version for free!
System requirements for this game will demand at least an ARM7 processor so you must at least own an iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 3rd Gen to play World of Goo. It has no problems running on iTouch 4th Generation devices and newer iOS devices.
