Microsoft Office 2010 | MS Office 14 Coming This 2009

Date Published: April 18, 2009

Have you gone tired of using your Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 editions? Guess what? Microsoft news has it that the new MS-Office 2010 will be released this year.

Sure, the Office 2010 edition is an upgrade to the previous editions mentioned but in all honesty, I never did like Office 2007. It’s slow-loading and consumes so much of my computer’s resources. And hey, I’m already using a Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz Acer laptop with 2GB of RAM. I have not even able to comprehend all its functions and features. Call it conservative but I like MS Office 2003 better. It’s more comprehensible, faster-loading and I’m used to it for many years without any complaints.

But with the release of the Office 2010 edition, I think I’m gonna give the Office suite another try. I’m loving the OpenOffice suite though and I’m not giving it up anytime soon. I have the OpenOffice installed in my two operating systems – Ubuntu 8.10 and Windows Vista. Soon, I’ll be posting a review or comparison between the two software packages.

As to the Office 2010. MSNBC claimed that it was previously known by the code name “Office 14“. What are the new features of MS-Office 2010?

Here is an excerpt from the report of MSNBC on Microsoft Office 2010

will include slimmed-down versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote that let people create and edit documents in a Web browser. Consumers will have access to a free, ad-supported version, and Capossela said the company is still hammering out what to charge businesses that want a version without ads.

Microsoft plans to let hundreds of thousands of people test a technical preview of the new Office portfolio starting in the third quarter of 2009, Capossela said. The company did not say whether average PC users will have a chance to test a more polished beta version.
