Flock Not Responding Error Caused by Windows Incompatibility
More than a week ago, we decided to update to Flock 2.5, the latest version of the browser. Though Flock 2.5 looked promising, we were not expecting it to show some bugs in the early stages. We have been using this browser for about a year now and we have not really encountered serious problems with Flock except that it hangs once in a while in our Acer TravelMate 6292-6B2G25Mn Notebook and other laptops that we own and tested for blogging purposes. These problems only happen when we open lots of tabs in Flock (around 150) which is understandable because of our “abusive” web surfing habits.
However, with the new 2.5 version of Flock, we are seeing a more fragile architecture. It hangs more frequently now (using the same notebooks) even if we open lesser number of tabs. That’s something weird, we thought because the Flock upgrade is supposed to be more reliable but we have not really developed appreciation with its memory consumption and overall performance.
In one incident, the error message popped up saying that Flock 2.5 is incompatible with some Windows components. We will investigate on this incompatibility issue and update this post to help those who have faced the same error. Details of this problem are being gathered.
Flock crashes are becoming more regular on our end and though we love this browser better than Internet Explorer 8, it’s causing us some problems lately because it’s making us slow by delaying the loading of pages. Our internet connection is fine but this browser when used isn’t performing properly. For additional info, Flock is a “derivative” of Firefox and share the same engine with the latter. Well, no doubt Flock errors are common since problems with Mozilla Firefox have been widely documented here and elsewhere on the internet.
