Firefox 3.6 Free Download Available and the New Firefox Browser is Faster!
What a big sweet surprise, the Mozilla geeks has came out with the new improved concoction of Firefox. As of January 21, 2010, citizens of planet earth can now download the Firefox 3.6 from Mozilla’s home page. I am impressed that after only 6 months since the release of version 3.5, we get a new spunky Firefox 3.6 version which we have anticipated as early as November 2009 (see Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Upcoming Features Include Personas Add-on).
I must confess, for the last 2 months I have been using Google Chrome most of the time since I found it faster than Firefox 3.5. I can run 15 tabs easy on Chrome compared with Firefox which can prove sluggish when more than 12 tabs are opened. Now that is going to change. I am defecting back to Firefox 3.6!
Today’s version release has a noticeably huge increase in performance speed. I tested it myself and I can proudly say it is as fast as Google Chrome 3.0.195.38. Perhaps Chrome is faster by a few milliseconds but it is insignificant. Firefox 3.6 comes with new features under the hood. The new UI sure looks better than the old one but Firefox version 3.6 has more to offer. For some of the more important new features in this release, read the summary of highlights after the jump.
Mozilla Firefox 3.6 New Features Highlights:
1. Users who frequent Javascript-heavy sites like Facebook and other networking sites will notice the quicker page loads. This is because of the improvements made on Firefox’s Javascript rendering engine, TestaMonkey. This also improves its performance when opening lots of tabs in a single window of Firefox.
2. Fullscreen HTML video playback. Firefox can now play videos embedded in HTML 5 in full screen size without any need for third party plugins like Adobe Flash and Microsoft’s Silverlight.
3. More Web-Formats supported. Some CSS 3.0 features are now supported including background-size. This new version also supports Web Open Font Format (WOFF) which allows web designers to use server-side fonts to create unique typhography for their web pages
4. Personas support is vastly improved
5. Security Enhancements. This version will automatically alert you to outdated plugins. This is very important because an outdated Flash plug-in has been a favorite exploit backdoor of malicious hackers!
Firefox 3.6 update is a big improvement to older versions of this browser. I am back to loving it again. I’m sure others will switch back again to it. But hey, Flock 2.5.6 free upgrade is also available, you might wanna check out this browser, too.
