Tagged Email Scam: Another Email Spam or A New Virus?
What do we know about the Tagged Email Scam? Are the Tagged.com messages you receive from friends an email scam or virus? If you have received an email with a subject line “you’ve been tagged!” from tagged.com, don’t give open it. This is the Tagged Email Scam. It has a virus-like behavior which asks for your email address and then will tell you to send the same tag you received to all your contacts. It’s viral or virus-like in behavior. If we may add, it’s terribly annoying. Unsolicited messages from websites like tagged.com are by nature suspicious because they are possibly phishing information via your email accounts.
Based on personal experiences, the Tagged Email Scam has been around for a few months. It’s never really a practice of this author to approve requests from websites even if all the email addresses in my contacts list have sent me the Tagged email. Scams like should not be condoned. In fact, some reports indicate that Tagged is phishing info like the Koobface Facebook Virus.
With this latest email scam, I am inclined to believe that 99% of all emails are scams and/or spams, as one report stated in the not-so-distant past. In addition, beware of email scams like the Vector Marketing Scam, Worldpay Card Transaction Confirmation Scam, and many more. Don’t be a victim of these internet email scams. You’ll only be wasting time reading those emails. As a first line of defense, delete emails coming from unknown entities immediately. Protect your email accounts by staying away from the tagged email scam. Learn from others whose identities have been stolen by simply tagging all contacts in his email account.

I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of these tagged emails as well. I have been getting quite a few and deleted them thinking it was just from a reader who wanted to get in touch.
