Olympic Torch Virus aka Invitation Virus
How true that there is an email virus going around the internet that has a subject line called “INVITATION”?. I got this info from my mailbox saying that “Do not open any message with an attached file called ‘Invitation’ regardless of who sent it, It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which ‘burns’ the whole hard disc C of your computer.” Categorically, the alleged virus is fit to be named “Olympic Torch Virus”.
This report is not yet verified but I will to look into this so-called “Olympic Torch” or “Invitation” virus. I suspect that this email itself is a virus with a malicious code embedded in it either to creat a buzz for a company or group of hackers.
In addition, the email reads “If you receive a mail called ‘invitation’ , though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.”
If the above-given statement was true, then computer users should be cautious in opening emails. Like I said, this report is not yet verified and if ever an “Olympic Torch” virus or “Invitation Virus” really exists, then one thing we can do is update our antivirus software databases or engines as soon as possible.
