Home Computer Protection: Download Free Norton Antivirus 2010

If you’d like to give extra protection for your home PC, become one of the Beta testers of Norton Antivirus 2010. This home antivirus 2010 version of Norton Antivirus software is free to download. All you have to do is fill out a short online form and the download link will be given to you. System requirements of Norton AV Beta are relatively low, FYI:

Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later Home/Professional/Media Center

  1. 300 MHz or faster processor
  2. 256 MB of RAM (512 MB RAM required for the Recovery Tool)
  3. 200 MB of available hard disk space

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic/Home Premium/Business/Ultimate

  1. Supports 32-bit and 64-bit platforms
  2. Must meet the minimum Windows Vista operating system requirements

Microsoft Windows 7 Starter/Basic/Premium/Professional/Ultimate

  1. Supports 32-bit and 64-bit platforms
  2. Must meet the minimum Windows 7 operating system requirements

Email scanning supported for POP3- and SMTP-compatible email clients.

  1. Browser support for Vulnerability Protection feature:
  2. Microsoft Internet Explorer 32-bit 6.0 or higher
  3. Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and later (Firefox 3.5.1 is the latest as of this writing)

Norton Antivirus 2010 Beta is compatible with Windows 7 and now uses SONAR 2, a technology developed by Symantec to better protect your home computers from viruses like April 1st Virus, and other malicious softwares both unknown and new. Heuristics is high using this antivirus software. Reliability yet to be determined.
