Zynga Opens New Developers Studio in Los Angeles
The world’s biggest social gaming company (Zynga) announced last February 2 that they will be expanding further. Amidst the global recession and shutdowns of most gaming companies, Zynga is bucking the trend. They will be opening their new Los Angeles Development Studio near Marina Del Rey area.
The company selected Los Angeles primarily because of its deep pool of creative artists and writers. Zynga said these talents are necessary to their business of making interactive casual games. Management has confirmed that it will be in the same set-up as their Zynga East studio located in Baltimore. This new studio will be in charge of developing new game titles for Zynga rather than improving its current crop of social games.
No definite announcement has been made as to who will be heading this Los Angeles Development studio and has not disclosed how many new employees it will be hiring. One thing is for sure, though, Zynga has deep pockets to entice interested persons. The company got $180 million investment last December from a Russian company and Zynga itself grossed more than $250 million for 2009.
Rumor has it that Zynga is branching out of social network platforms and get out of its dependency on Facebook or MySpace. An evidence of this is its recently-launched website for Farmville, (head to this category in our site and learn some tips, tricks and other Farmville Cheats and tutorials). This Adobe Flash farming simulation game has proven to be massively popular and profitable that Zynga felt it can and should just go on its own independent way. The company wants to maximize its profits, right now social platform owners like Facebook and MySpace takes a big chunk of its revenues. Maybe this new Los Angeles Dev studio will focus primarily on creating independent games for Zynga.
If live near Los Angeles and you know PHP/MySQL programming or you are adept on Flash ActionScript, go and send your resume to Zynga. Game programmers and Flash artists will be a priority for their new Los Angeles Development studio. I will also go brush up on my Flash scripting and update everyone when I’m done with some jobs.
