Unlocked Samsung Wave S8500 Bada OS Phone Price is Under $400 in the US; UK Price Much Higher
The Samsung Wave S8500 is finally available for US customers! Samsung has so far failed to find a US carrier partner for its first-ever Bada OS-powered Wave S8500 smartphone. Bell of Canada is already set to launch this unique handset this summer (the official Samsung Wave release date in Canada announced earlier by its carrier) but American customers do not have to go to Canada to get this phone. Amazon is selling an unlocked version of the Samsung Wave S8500 with Bada OS for $399.95. In the UK, the price of Samsung Wave S8500 is much higher ($506 when it first came out in the market).
The First Bada OS Smartphone, the Samsung Wave S8500 Sold Cheap for under $400
The Samsung Wave S8500 is already a historical gadget, its success will determine if the world will embrace Samsung’s exclusive mobile operating system, the Bada OS. Right now, American carriers have opted to carry the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 android phone powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird processor. Will the American people appreciate another operating system? I, myself would like to get this phone just to explore this innovative mobile platform. It is obvious that Samsung is having a hard time convincing seasoned developers to create apps for Bada OS. The lack of applications for their OS is one reason why major U.S. carriers have continued to ignore the Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone but Amazon’s act of selling this phone unlocked for a bargain price may attract bargain-hunters.
Hardware-wise, Samsung Wave 8500 is one of the best handsets in the world today. It sports a high-end 1 GHz CPU, 3.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with flash, and it was one of the first phone this year to have HD video recording up to 720p resolution. I, myself believe, this smartphone is a dream gadget. If I had the extra money, I will certainly buy this. The coolness factor of owning something that nobody else has in my office (or in my immediate circle) makes me feel more masculine and tech-savvy.
