Samsung is betting huge on its core smartphone business with Samsung Bada OS. This is Samsung’s own operating system for smartphones where Samsung Wave S8500 is the first mobile phone that will ever use this OS. They unveiled this in-house operating system last December 2009. Perhaps dissatisfied with the current Google Android-mania, Samsung said it is pushing through with the development of the Bada operating sytem. The electronics giant is fully committed to the implementation of Bada. They made the Software Development Kit for Bada available to the public and initiated a Developers Challenge for Bada app developers. The winners will share the prize money totaling $2.7 million. This is a proof of Samsung’s commitment to Bada OS.

The company has put its Bada’s website online. They are persistently courting seasoned programmers who write for iPhone and Android App stores to take advantage of Bada’s exceptional intuitive open-source architecture.

Bada will offer a feature-rich platform for a new mobile computing experience. It is based on Samsung’s much admired TouchWiz UI. Developers can maximize its advanced sensing capabilities. Samsung Bada OS supports flash control, web control, motion-sensing fine-tuned vibration control, and face detection. This operating system will fully support sensor-bade context-aware applications.

The Samsung Bada will also be snugly integrated with the web and will fully seamlessly be in tune with social networking sites. Furthermore, this web connectivity is going to be serviced with a wide area network of Bada servers to ensure stability.

Heavy players like Twitter, Blockbuster, CAPCOM, EA mobile and Gameloft announced their support for Samsung’s Bada initiative. Each company has pledged active participation in developing Bada apps for their own use. Notice that 3 of these companies are games-centric. These gaming entities are optimistic that Bada could make a major impact in the future of smart phone gaming experience.
