Hotmail Down: Is Hotmail Server Too Busy?

Date Published: March 12, 2009

The server of Hotmail was obviously too busy a few hours ago. We can’t login to Hotmail because it’s down. This is not the first time that the Hotmail “server is too busy” was seen by our team in the last few years of maintaining an account with Microsoft’s email service. The Hotmail outage, just like the Google outage (Gmail Down) is remarkably annoying to most people. Of course, who wouldn’t be annoyed if your email client, like Hotmail, is unavailable for a few hours and you need to send emails ASAP.

We maintain multiple email accounts with Yahoo, Google and Hotmail due to several reasons. For one, when an outage of Hotmail server occurs, we still can email our clients and site partners through other accounts we have. That’s the importance of having a backup email account.

Hotmail Down, Trouble With Server

If you have encountered this Hotmail problem (server down), don’t freak out. The Hotmail “server is too busy” error message will not stay forever unless Microsoft says so. :-) The Hotmail trouble is temporary. In the past we have seen the Hotmail server went down a few times but did not take 24 hours or longer to be fixed. Before publishing this article, we have been able to login to our Hotmail account. We are in the Philippines, by the way. We are not sure if the Hotmail “server is too busy” message can still be read by others in the US, UK and other parts of the globe. We hope Hotmail server is no longer down in your country. You may check Hotmail and see if the server is still too busy that you can’t get through.

    Yes! All of my accounts with hotmail were inoperable last night with a box that read, “You Don’t Have An Inbox”. Several of my other associates contacted me with the same problem.

    I am going to check again this morning to see if it is up again. Thanks for your post.

    I have the same problem at the moment as Sarah had one year ago. Strange is that my friends at their place do not have any problems in logging in to Hotmail. So to me it looks like a spyware is blocking me from hotmail. Can anyone confirm that to me ?

    The webpage at http://sn111w.snt111.mail.live.com/default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

    Below is the original error message

    Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.
