Archos 5 Internet Tablet Android 1.6 Firmware Update
The French company maker of Archos 5 suffered public embarrassment last December when it first issued and then canceled their Android 1.6 update. The Archos 5 internet tablet owners were mollified that the firm actually did a last-minute cancel of its free Android 1.6 Firmware update after it was found to be corrupting the Android OS (read more about New Android Phones in our archives)! Some customers felt betrayed by ARCHOS. If you remember, Amazon.com pulled the 160 GB versions of Archos 5 last October 2009 after another firmware update caused dozens of glitches in the device.
Archos 5 Internet Tablet Firmware Update Canceled
ARCHOS were castigated by experts for being careless in issuing software updates for its products. Analysts are saying the company should be more prudent now that they have thousands of dependent customers. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet was one of the world’s best-selling Android-powered portable media player and internet access device. Buyers were praising it for its crystal clear touch screen 5-inch display that played HD movies smoothly. With is 800×600 display resolution and fast Wi-Fi and 3.5 G connection, the Archos 5 was a pleasure to get online with. No more squinting the eye when reading web pages. This is where it outshines smaller smart phones like the iPhone and Blackberry. The Archos 5 was a superior internet device and people also loved its160GB hard drive. Such a giant size storage meant users can carry thousands of MP3 and photos on the Archos 5 and yet still have enough space for HD movies.
The company has issued repeated apologies and the new Firmware update to Android 1.6 is available for download again from archos.com. Those who have tried this newly issued update have confirmed it no longer has the risk of deleting Android programs.
