If Groat’s disease is not real, how could Duberstein have died of it? You can’t die of a fictional disease.

Groats Disease IS real! I should know since I am organizing my second annual “Walk Across America For Groats Disease” in the Spring.

This past summer, I walked from the Midwest to California (with some help).

It’s a debilitating disease and it must be eradicated.

Groats Disease is real. I had it when I was in my teens and it is in remission. There are a few people raising awareness about the disease through walks and fund-raisers. Hopefully, that will make an impact.

The Walk Across America thing for Groats passed through here (Indiana) last year.

I got a free sweatshirt so I hope they come back.

I saw them on the news last year. Maybe September.

Many thanks to the fellow walking across America for Groats Disease. I saw him in Indianapolis yesterday with about 200 followers. I was afflicted with Groats 10 years ago but it is currently in remission. I appreciate all of his efforts to get the public aware of this destructive disease.

He’s staying at a hotel tonight in Illinois. We saw him about an hour ago. It was nice meeting him. I told him that I hope Groats Disease goes away some day. It is painful to see the way it affects small children.

    Is this a joke?

  9. Martha Stover on April 15th, 2010 1:09 am

I don’t think it is a joke. One of my students has the disease and explained it to me at the beginning of the school year. We made sure the class was informed and we have had no major outbursts.

Yea, i don’t think it is a joke either. Last year, a girl on the JV swimming team was diagnosed with it. She was pretty disruptive and eventually had to leave the team.

She would not stop splashing and laughing and the coach had no choice.

  11. Bill from Utah on April 26th, 2010 11:53 am

It must be real because there was a short story on the news on whether the guy walking across the country for Groats disease would stop in Utah.

  12. Big Al on April 29th, 2010 12:40 pm

groats disease is what? is groats syndrome the same? nasty illnesses they are. we don’t see it much here in Utah but i know you have more cases back east.

It seems as if they should have a walk across America for cancer and not groats disease. what disease affects more people? I only know three people with Groats and I know a dozen or more with cancer.

  14. Blackhawks Fan on June 3rd, 2010 12:54 am

I never heard of this thing until I saw something on Facebook about it. Man, I wouldn’t walk across america for my own mother!

  15. PL on June 11th, 2010 4:02 pm

I have no idea if Groats disease is real or not. But I know that at the Arbys we ate at tonight the table next to us was talking about it and how Groats Syndrome is similar to Torettes. I doubt I spelled that right.

  18. Jane on September 1st, 2010 1:12 am

Bless you Groats guy. When are you coming to Texas? I guess we are too far south for you. Walk Across America For Groats Disease must come to our wonderful state. Do you like Chile? We’ll give you the best Chile you ever had.

  21. Rico Suave on February 2nd, 2011 3:47 pm

Haha Duberstein died of “Chron’s Disease” not “Groat’s Syndrome”

  22. Melanie N on February 5th, 2011 2:46 pm

This article is very offensive to me because my mother was diagnosed with Groat’s disease about a month ago. how would you feel if a loved one was afflicted with some little-known disease and you were told that it isn’t “real” just because it was discussed on a comedy show?

  23. Jeff in Indy on March 6th, 2011 1:16 pm

Hey. That Walk Across America For Groats Disease starts March 21st. And it goes right through my hometown! Can’t wait!

  24. Natalie Beechcroft on April 6th, 2011 12:08 pm

Yes, it is real. I will be starting a blog to give people insight on it. This notion that it is fake is ridiculous. Groats Disease is like any other disease. You deal with it and take your meds.

  25. Aaron on April 14th, 2011 11:50 pm

    @Melanie N,

Well, I believe you… Can you tell me where can I get some info on Groats Syndrome?? It’s even on the list of fictional diseases in Wikipedia…
