Anno 2070 City Building Game for PC Release Date Announced by Ubisoft; 3D Graphics and Animation Offered
Obviously emboldened by the hugely popular CityVille on Facebook, Ubisoft announced they will be releasing the latest version of their Anno franchise city building & conquest game for the PC this coming Winter of 2011. Hopefully, this release date schedule will push through. Anno 2070 is the successor to the very successful Anno 1404 which was released last October 2009.

Anno 2070 still continues the deep real time strategy of the Anno franchise but instead of starting off in the middle ages, this game will be set in the future world of 2070! Related Designs and Blue Byte are the new developers of this expansion. Ubisoft says Anno 2070 will not only come with beautiful 3D graphics and animation but will also involve more complex city building simulation and management.
Related Designs people are promising to deliver a “very dynamic” world environment. Your Anno 2070 fantasy scenario will keep evolving depending on how you will use your resources. You will also have to choose between two competing factions. You can either join the industry-focused Tycoons or the nature-lovers, the Ecos.
Anno 2070 will start you off as an overlord out to master the new technologies to colonize a planet wrecked by global warming. There will be an endless single-player campaign mode wherein you will have the chance to build the biggest and most powerful territory. But Ubisoft also hinted there will be a new multiplayer coop mode for Anno 2070 too!
Just like Zynga’s CityVille on Facebook, having friends around will help you developer your cities faster. The multiplayer aspect of the game is still in development so Ubisoft has declined to further elaborate. But hopefully, they will include warfare combat! I would love to go raid and burn down my friends’ cities, in a fun way of course.
