Date Published: September 30, 2009

The 19 pound baby boy was born a few days ago in Indonesia and it was all over internet news. This 19 pound baby was taken a photo on the side of a average-sized baby. Its actual weight was 19.2 pounds or 8.7 kilograms which is considered the largest baby born in that country. However, this 19 pound baby boy did not break the 1879 record of the “largest baby born” at 23 pounds. Try to look at the photo of this 19 pound baby boy from a hospital in Medan, North Sumatra below. Nurses and pediatricians claimed this huge baby had a bizarre appetite and a loud roar rather than a cute baby cry.

This 19 pound baby boy’s case was actually called “Macrosomia” that is usually a result of Gestational Diabetes or woman who had diabetes during her pregnancy. As for this Indonesian mother, her 19 pound baby boy was delivered through Caesarian Section. Well, there was no way she could have delivered that 19 pound baby normally because it will never fit in her pelvic inlet.

Some people called us shallow and stupid for posting the photo of this 19 pound baby boy which he/she claimed as an edited image. Well, we can not blame him or her for such reaction because an infant born weighing 19 pounds is a very rare case. We are not trying to scare mothers or pregnant women but this is a real case of a macrosomia.

If you want to avoid giving birth to an over-sized infant like this 19 pound baby boy, then be cautious during your pregnancy.
