HTC Gratia Android OS 2.2 Froyo Release Date in UK, Germany and the Rest of Europe
HTC has been in the news lately due to their Windows Phone 7 handsets such as HTC Mondrian and HTC HD7. But don’t let that make you forget that HTC gained success first with Android phones!
HTC is releasing another mid-range Android OS 2.2 Froyo phone in Europe in November
The Taiwan-based manufacturer recently announced that they are shipping their latest Android OS 2.2-powered phone the HTC Gratia on November in Europe. It’s an upgraded version of their US-only HTC Aria but with Android OS 2.2 Froyo pre-installed.
The HTC Gratia is another mid-range smartphone that will appeal to budget-conscious buyers in Europe. It isn’t as impressive as the HTC Desire HD (which we’ve reviewed here several times) but its low cost will have ready buyers especially in the poorer European countries. There was no word on the exact HTC Gratia release date but we’re hoping for its availability on Halloween. Being part of the Black Friday 2010 or Cyber Monday 2010 deals might prove too late for an official lanuch.
The most exciting feature of the HTC Gratia is its exterior. This Android phone will also come in white and dark green cases. This makes it more attractive than the usual black HTC phone models before.
The Gratia comes with a rather small 3.2-inch capacitive touch screen with 320 x 460 resolution. It’s certainly pockety-friendly with dimensions of 103.8 x 57.7 x 11.7 mm. It’s light and easy to handle at 115 grams.
It sports an optical trackpad like what the BlackBerry Curve 9300 3G has. The 600 MHz processor is fast enough to run Android 2.2 without any problem. The Gratia has all the necessary smartphone connectivity options like WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3G, 3.5mm headphone jack, microUSB and a microSD slot.
The HTC Gratia technical specs included in the press release indicate that it will have a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. It won’t record HD videos though. The 384MB RAM and 512MB ROM makes it snappy enough for running games but don’t expect this phone to run 3D games seriously.
HTC Gratia’s retail price has not been announced but expect this phone to come cheaply with carrier subsidy.
