We’ve reported in our Logitech Revue Google TV release date article that the expected launch date of this Google TV was on September 29, 2010. However, the Apple TV release date even came first much to the disappointment of some buyers who have made pre-orders. The new Logic Revue Google TV ship date is on October 6, FYI.
What do you get in buying the Logic Revue Google TV? These are the items you get, as per announcement by Logitech – “a Logitech Revue companion box and controller. An HDTV cam and video-calling app.” The company also announced that smartphone apps for Google TV will be able to remotely control Logitech review. The Google TV, in this perspective, is very similar to the Apple TV because the latter will also be controllable by iPhone 4, iPod Touch (4th generation, 3rd generation) and iPad tablet.
The only significant difference between the Logitech Revue Google TV and Apple TV is the price. The SRP for the Google TV is under $300 while Apple’ internet TV is only $99! That’s about 1:3 in ratio. The designs are radically different too. Apple’s product is smaller with a rectangular shape and rounded corner while Googl’e product looks like an antenna-less Wireless-N router. In Google’s ads of their web TV, you can even play Farmville and other top games online. It seems like TV is REALLY going to be re-invented with the release of these two products.
