Date Published: February 5, 2010

Rumors came out that Google and NSA (National Security Agency) is teaming up for better internet security or safety. According to a newspaper, the giant internet search engine sought the help of the United State of America’s National Security Agency because it is considered the most powerful electronic surveillance organization.

Google and NSA Team-up against Cyber Attacks

This Google NSA tandem was leaked through an article written by Ellen Nakashima on The Washington Post Newspaper earlier on February 4, 2010. Nakashima said Google and NSA are currently finalizing an agreement that would help the internet giant investigate the cyber attacks that originated from China (Google China Cyber Attacks) in December 2009. However, neither Google nor NSA confirmed the said rumor since it is a matter of national security.

Google and NSA’s goal is to enhance internet security to protect Google search engine users. This is through investigating previous hacking or cyber attacks and patching deficiencies in which the attacks were launched.

Google internet search engine and USA’s National Security Agency partnership is not only against China’s network espionage but against cyber attacks in general. However, making an agreement between Google and NSA is not easy because Google is careful not to compromise its users’ privacy to the government.
