N99i V9+ Toshibo Model: Full Specifications, Free Themes and Games

Date Published: August 21, 2008

The N99i V9+ full specifications have been discussed in my post “N99i Cell Phone – a Knockoff Nokia Model” and I have tested some of its features in my article “N99i V9+ – a Knockoff Cell Phone With Some Great Features“. In this article, free N99i themes and games are to be discussed.

I have found out that there are only three themes in the N99i unit with no additional themes resources available, as of this writing. Many of you may be looking for free themes for N99i but it could take some time before they even become available for download. Games are also built-in to N99i but only a few are installed. The N99i games folder cannot be accessed from within the menu items directly. Instead, you have to use the File Manager and look for the games folder in the memory card. From there you can install games in N99i.

For N99i themes, I haven’t found a way yet to change the themes. The three themes installed in N99i look all the same to me with no noticeable changes in the wallpaper and other settings unlike in original Nokia phones where a theme will change the wallpaper, ringtones, navigation menus or menu items, icons, etc. For N99i, changing themes doesn’t seem to change any of these.

    Gener,

honestly, you cannot install any games in Nokia N99i. it’s one sad truth i found out after using it for some time. i’ve been looking for ways to install games like kingkong (kingkong.nes), challenger (challenger.nes), moto (moto.nes) but to no avail. hindi pwede. Mahjong, Puzzle and Magic Sushi lang ang pre-installed. They are the only games that run on N99i. Sorry, but China phones have so much limitations. i thought at first i can install the games listed in the Games folder but I too cannot do it just like the rest of my friends who purchased n99i.

The truth is, i even deleted some games in the games folder of Nokia N99i using my PC (connect the USB cable to your phone). however, i cannot delete all because the files are read-only. that means they are encrypted.

    Hi Jesse,

Just bought one last night, its looks is different than yours but it has the same model name Toshibo v9+/N99i. At first it has red and green lines, but when I fully charged it, the lines are completely gone. Maybe its because of low battery. Anyways, its embedded games are nice and yes it really doesn’t have java/symbian (too bad) but indeed, its pack of cool features.

It’s because the operating system of Nokia N95 8Gb clone is NOT symbian. The OS is a fake symbian. It cannot run java games.

So wala pala talagang tweaks available para sa mga ganitong phones, ang sarap sana paglaruan e, well about the MMS, GPRS, WAP settings, it took me a few moments to sink it in to me, my wife was so frustrated about how to enable this feature and i felt bad, being a computer literate, i can’t help her, instead she discovered it by herself, here’s what she did, and we also did this to one of our friend’s Toshibo n99i,

I think its similar for all providers but about smart, first we made sure that all the settings we made (since we were desperately trying) had been deleted or restored, then we followed the proper instructions of downloading the settings from the provider, like SET and send to xxxx, now instead of pondering for a keyword for the phone, we just used the n79 keyword and walla, the provider had sent all the settings and it installed by itself (well while pressing next/ok button). Its that easy..

Hi ALL, i have bought a Toshibo V90 last year in Mauritius. Initially it was good. but nowadays, since 27 Dec 2008, i got lots of problems to charge the device. The company who designed the device has made a mistake to provide a 100% reliable charger-plug system. After many months of use, the charger-plug became loose in the PDA ‘socket’, making it difficult to charge the device. Everytime i have to play on with the charger-cable so that the PDA got charge. Little disturbance of the cable make it loose, hence charging disconnected. However the USB connection with charging system is very useful.

i would like to make a request to the Company or Companies who designed this product to consider the problem of charging.

I would advise them to put a new charging outlet like those of Nokia or Motorola only. Charging points of Sony Ericson mobiles are also semi-reliable.

I would like to receive reply/solutions for these comments.
    My mail is:

    Hi jessie and all,

    Thank You Very Much.

Please note that i have bought a mobile-charger traveller for batteries. As from yesterday, am charging only from the mobile-charger as the charging cable has stop charging. i wonder how can i use the cable now to connect to my PC as well as whether the earpiece will be able to be properly connected or not. No matter, i have to look for a bluetooth device/headset too.

Please note that the Video-camera does not really give a 3.0 Mega Pixel quality. Am also disappointed about the format where i really cannot ” .mp4 ” format too.

    Thank You

    Hello Everybody

Am planning to buy a 4Giga memory card for my PDA. However i do not know whether it will support 4GB or higher. The salesman said it does support any size, something yet to confirm.

My main problem is that i do not know about the difference between Micro-SD and SDHC Cards. During my shopping, i got to know a 4GB SDHC Card, which is of same size like a Micro-SD.

Am still in doubt about whether the 4GB SDHC Card will work in my PDA or not. For that, i have researched internet – where i came across that MicroSD support upto 2GB and SDHC supports higher than 2GB.

I strongly request you to send me some possible quick comments and assistance about having a 4GB card for my PDA.

Just for curiosity, i have noticed that sometimes one of my 3 TV channels plays in colour when am inside intranets of companies and nearby an ‘emitter’. I would like to know more about that.

    Thanks in advance for cooperation

    Richie

    Richie,

I strongly recommend that you look for a replacement cable. Accessories of Nokia N99i V9 Toshibo cell phones are cheap but may be hard to find. The damage in your charger (cable) can only be remedied by replacement. yup, it’s true. The Nokia N99i clone phone does not really take pictures good quality pictures up to 3 megapixels. It was only a marketing pitch.

    Richie,

One of my suggestions is that if you are planning to get a 4GB SDHC card, bring your PDA unit to the dealer to try the card first before purchasing it. You have to test the 4GB SDHC card before paying for it.

Hi Jessie & all. Thanks Jessie for your guidance. You got nice blog too.

Well, this PDA could have been the best selling PDA maybe in the world. It has affordable price in Mauritius and got lot of accessories. Personally, i bought it because of its multi-features, mainly the free TV, as am a big fans of TV and UK Premier League Football (Liverpool FC). So when i worked late night, i do not have facilities to watch football on tv. So i purchased this device. Moreover i can watch any movie/news on tv anytime and anywhere. Otherwise some users of 3G phones (which does not include an integrated free tv) in Mauritius have to pay for the tv channels through their prepaid cards.
Afterall its a PDA with dual sim and powerful speaker-sounds compared to others.

    Regards

The user manual for the TV n99i says it has a T9 function for the SMS service, but I am unable to find it. I read somewhere that the SMS options need to be changed to “Smart ABC”, yet I don’t seem to have that option…

Configuration of China Phones’ MMS and GPRS Manually

    Creating Data Accounts

    Steps:
    1. Open Services Menu.
    2. Open Data Account.
    3. Open GPRS.
    4. Create/Edit Data Account and enter the following values:

    For Smart MMS Data Account:

    Account Name: SmartMMS
    APN: mms
    User Name: leave it blank
    Password: leave it blank
    Auth. Type: Normal

    For Smart GPRS Data Account:

    Account Name: SmartGPRS
    APN: smart1
    User Name: leave it blank
    Password: leave it blank
    Auth. Type: Normal

    5. Save the Data Account.

Configuring MMS Using the Data Accounts Created

    1. Open Messages.
    2. Open MMS.
    3. Open Message Settings.
    4. Open Server Profile.
    5. Create/Edit a Profile and enter the following values:

    For Smart MMS Profile:

    Rename Profile: SmartMMS
    Homepage: http://10.102.61.238:8002
Data Account: SmartMMS (this data account is the one you have created)
    Connection Type: HTTP
    Proxy Address: 010.102.061.046
    Proxy Port: 8080
    Username: leave it blank
    Password: leave it blank

    6. Save the Profile.
    7. Activate the Profile.
    8. MMS services now ready to use. In case you encounter errors, double check the Data Account and Profile created. In some cases you need to restart the phone.

Dapat activated muna ang SIM before you can use MMS and GPRS services.

For Smart SIM, you can use your China Phones to activate MMS and GPRS by simply sending/texting MMS ON / GPRS ON to 3401.

Mahirap sa Globe, anyway ang isang Option ay active MMS and GPRS using another phone. Monitor until your SIM is activated then transfer your SIM in your China Phone and enjoy surfing and sending MMS.
