LG’s 31-inch LEX8 OLED TV Specs, Release Date and Price Revealed
LG Electronics of South Korea is undoubtedly one of the starts of the recently concluded IFA 2010 tech show in Berlin, Germany. Aside from their very impressive showcasing of the first publicly-unveiled Optimus 7 Windows Phone 7 Series smartphone, the company also won new fans with its web-connected LG Smart TV product that has a Wii-like remote control! To cap its successful trip to IFA, LG also got rave reviews for their 31-inch OLED TV. It’s the world’s largest OLED TV and the thinnest, measuring a mere 2.9mm thick!
LG is now becoming as famous as Samsung when it comes to electronics products. By creating the LG LEX8 31-inch OLED TV, it showed the world that it can also produce trendsetting products like Samsung could.

The LEX8 series is LG’s new line of OLED TV. OLED is used mostly on smartphones because of their cost. But LG promises its LEX8 line will offer prices comparable to LCD TVs. For your information, OLED is the better display for HD television sets because it offers more contrast ratio than it Plasma or LCD counterparts.
The 31-inch LEX8 on display at the IFA offered infinite contrast amount ratio and tests have shown you can view it clearly from any angle! This is so unlike LCD that suffers from image and color degradation when viewed from the side! Aside from the superior image quality of this OLED TV, it is also noticeably thinner and therefore lighter than LCD TV sets.
OLED technology also has the longest lifespan and consumes the least amount of electricity.
Tentative price for the 31-inch LG OLED LEX8 TV is £6,000 (~US $9,215) when it hits first the UK market in March 2011 (tentative release date). I told you, OLED TV sets are more expensive than LCD and Plasma TV sets.
