Wizbook 1020i and Wizbook 800LX Released by Red Fox (Prices in the Philippines included)

October 26, 2008 · Filed Under Laptops/Notebooks

Red Fox Technologies has been known for some time in manufacturing motherboards. Recently, Red Fox entered the laptop/notebook manufacturing industry with its release of the first Intel-powered “netbook”, that is, the Wizbook 1020i and Wizbook 800LX. Red Fox must have realized how good are the income of computer companies in creating and distributing laptops/notebooks designed for people from all walks of life.

The excerpt from the Philippine Daily Inquirer states it best:

Red Fox Technologies launches their first Intel Atom-powered netbook called the Wizbook 1020i. It is has a 10-inch LCD screen powered with 80 gigabytes of hard disk space, at least one gigabyte memory and a built-in camera. The Wizbook 1020i runs on Linpus Linux but it can be upgraded to Microsoft Windows XP. In an interview with INQUIRER.net multimedia reporter Alex Villafania, Red Fox product manager Dio Vasquez talks about some of the features of the Wizbook 1020i and the lower model Wizbook 800LX. The Wizbook 1020i is priced at P19,900 and the Wizbook 800LX at P16,000.

These prices are low compared to other notebooks already being sold in the Philippine market like the Macbook and Macbook Pro. Although these Wizbook netbooks are not in the same league as Macbook and Macbook Pro in terms of features and full technical specifications, many Filipino laptop/notebook buyers are once again given more great options to choose from. For the regular laptop user, I believe the Wizbook 1020i and Wizbook 800LX are perfect choices.

These are quite affordable! And good specs, too. I thought of buying a portable laptop for my nieces in Davao, but I am worried about theft or something.

    Mhy,

Yeah, the prices of Red Fox Wizbook laptops are cheap compared to other bigger brands like Lenovo, Compaq and Macboo/Macbook Pro (which are at least 3 times the prices of Wizbooks). For practical reasons, I think you should just send the money to Davao and let them buy the units themselves. Don’t buy there and send the item here. It’s not theft that you should be worried about first – it’s the damage of the notebooks during freight. :-)

Hello!!! I just want to share this. I bought a redfox 1020i, its cheaper compared to other brands, P18,500.00. I find it nice, ther are 3 colors available in the market right now, black, white and red. I bought a black one, so far I’m using it morethan a month and so far so good very handy. But the battery can last only for 2hrs u need to recharge it again for 4hrs. well its given, what do u expect from notebook type laptops. But for me, its okey as long as I can used its wifi. hehehe

    Gareth Anthony,

Oh that’s so nice to hear. So, the Redfox Wizbook 1020i is already on sale. The price is cheaper now and it’s good you got one when the price has gone down a bit. Yup, that’s the problem with some notebooks. The battery life is very short and charging it every few hours is really a pain in the butt.
