Viewsonic Vtablet 101 Android-Powered Tablet PC Launched in China: US and UK Soon to Follow
Viewsonic Vtablet 101 Android-Powered Tablet PC is now available in China. US and UK release date is soon, according to reports. The California-based Viewsonic company formally launched on January 20, 2010 its first ever tablet PC product in Beijing, China. Viewsonic might have pre-empted Apple’s rumored launching of its Tablet PC last month, January of 2010. Viewsonic is confident it has a good product in Vtablet 101 and is hoping to compete favorably with Apple iPad Tablet PC.

Not much detail has been divulged about the Vtablet 101 Android Tablet PC. Even Viewsonic’s website has no mention about it yet. Viewsonic is being subtle about their plans for the Vtablet 101 but expect a formal announcement from them soon. We would love to make a comparison between Viewsonic Vtablet and Apple iPad Tablet PC, and another comparison between Viewsonic Vtablet and HP Slate Tablet PC, so we can offer our readers some options in choosing the right Tablet PC.
The Viewsonic Vtablet Chinese version has the following features and specs: a potent 1 GHz ARM A9 SMP processor, a nVidia Tegra 20, an 8.9-inch LVDS touchscreen display with an impressive 1024 x 800 resolution, a front-facing camera which can be used for video chat using a Bluetooth headset like the Samsung WEP470 Progressive Noise Filtering Bluetooth Headset, a rather small 4GB flash based built-in memory, 3D graphics capability, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity.
This tablet is being sold in China for a retail price of 3,000 Yuans or about US$400. I think it’s worth it since it runs on the open OS Android which carries with it around 20,000 of apps ready to download from the web. I hope Viewsonic’s Vtablet 101 got equipped with a capacitive display technology and slot for memory expansion. The 4GB seems rather small for a PC tablet. Viewsonic should increase it to at least 8GB internal memory capacity. If they do this, I might give the Viewsonic VTablet 101 a 4-star rating and a very good review.
