MSI WindPad U100 Tablet PC Technical Specs and Features Leaked
MSI WindPad U100 Tablet PC is coming out this year. MSI had much success with selling netbooks considering they only followed ASUS who was first to introduce the netbook craze. Imitation is always a good way to sell a product. MSI is now targeting tablet computers which are again back in vogue courtesy of Apple’s gazillion-selling iPad. It should be no surprise, MSI Wind netbooks, like MSI Wind U135, are the favorite hackintosh toys of geeks.
The company it seemed was using computer parts that are perfect for running Mac OS X much to the delight of many individuals. They bought cheap MSI Wind netbooks and installed Apple ‘s operating system on it. Anyway, MSI is again trying to ride on the success of Apple. They announced their forthcoming WindPad U100 tablet computer during the Computex 2010 event in Taipei, Taiwan. Unlike cheap Chinese knock-offs that has Android 1.5 or watered-down version of Windows 7, the WindPad U100 will run the full-version of Windows 7 Premium with custom UI for better touch-control compatibility. The prototype model demonstrated during the Computex Tradeshow looks gorgeous. It has the same black front face bezel found in the iPad. Below is a list of features and technical specs I was able to gather for the WindPad U100 Tablet PC.
- Windows 7 Premium Full Version With MSI Custom User Interface Layer
- 1.66 GHz Intel Atom CPU
- 2GB of RAM which will provide it a major speed-boost
- 10.1-inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display (bigger than the iPad’s 9.7-inch)
- 32 GB SSD Hard Drive
- 3G/WiFi
- USB 2.0
- Camera
- Bluetooth
Company insiders hinted that the WindPad U100 will ship out before 2010 ends. Production has already started and they said it will retail for less than $500. This is again in keeping with the company’s tactic of offering cheaper alternatives. It remains to be seen if this tablet computer will achieve the same level of success of the Wind netbook. The full version of Windows 7 means real-computing power is packed with the WindPad as opposed to the iPad whose specs makes it more like a multimedia content-provider and is impractical for creating serious content.
